Each jacket has over 40 layers of dye applied to create a one of a kind piece. Everything is done by hand and hand painted. Once the fabric is painted, the silk is placed between builders paper and blank news print then rolled onto a steel core in order to steam the silk and set the dyes. The silk is steamed for 3 hours at 250 F. After setting the steam, the silk rests for 24 hours then is washed in a four step hot water wash process to release the excess dyes and any wax resist that may be used in the process. Then the silk hangs to air dry then is laid out on the cutting table to cut out the pattern. The jacket is constructed by machine using the best techniques possible. No serging is used! Truly one of a kind unique designer silk wearable art.
